Former Indian federation president Vijay Kumar Malhotra dies aged 93

Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra, politician and former president of the Indian archery federation, died on 30 September, aged 93.

Malhotra was the founder of the Archery Association of India, the Asian Archery Federation (now World Archery Asia) and the Commonwealth Archery Federation.

His leadership for more than five decades laid the foundation for the growth and governance of archery in India and internationally.

He also served as acting president of the Indian Olympic Association, where his vision and administrative skills contributed to strengthening India’s sporting framework.

Professor Malhotra was a pioneering sports administrator whose legacy extended far beyond India. His noble principles, lifelong commitment and invaluable contributions to the global sporting community will be long remembered.
