Sai Sudharsan’s innings turned into a nightmare after a tense moment with KL Rahul in the ongoing two-match Test series opener between India and the West Indies in Ahmedabad. Just before his dismissal, KL Rahul was visibly upset with Sai Sudharsan over a miscommunication during a single.
After failing to make a significant impact on the England tour, Sai was aiming to make a strong start to the home series, but things didn’t go as he would have hoped. He had scored 0, 30, 61, 0, 38, and 11 in his six innings during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England.

He was hoping to carry his brilliant form to the ongoing two-match Test series, but he faltered under the pressure, thanks to KL Rahul. After a tense exchange with KL Rahul, the young batter looked rattled. When Roston Chase came in to bowl, the pressure was already building on Sai.

Chase delivered a quicker ball that skidded in low, heading straight for the middle stump. Sai, who seemed a little bit distracted, went on the back foot to attempt a pull shot but completely misjudged the length.

West Indies collapses to 162 as KL Rahul stars for India on Day 1
Meanwhile, India got off to another rough start in terms of the toss, losing it for the sixth Test in a row, but they quickly took control once the game began. Mohammed Siraj made an early impact on a pitch that offered consistent bounce, taking three key wickets in his first spell and reducing West Indies to 42 for 4 inside the opening hour.
From there, the West Indies never recovered and were bowled out for just 162, with Justin Greaves top-scoring with 32. KL Rahul led India’s response with authority, hitting his 19th Test fifty while keeping the scoreboard ticking at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Day 1.
Yashashvi Jaiswal looked fluent and in control before getting out for 36, while Sai Sudharsan fell cheaply for 7, trapped LBW by Roston Chase. Shubman Gill, coming off a prolific Test series in England with four centuries, anchored the innings and provided stability at the other end.
At the close of play, India was just 41 runs behind West Indies’ first-innings total on Day 1. The pitch has dried out nicely and looks excellent for batting, giving India a strong platform to build a big first-innings total and put the visitors under pressure in Ahmedabad.
