Abdul Carter, Tyler Warren forced to wear Oregon gear after lost bets to Pro Ducks

Two of the greatest things about college football are the traditions it brings and the fandom that it creates. While allegiances to teams in the NFL may be strong, there is nothing like the bad blood between college teams, especially when players from opposing teams eventually become teammates in the pros.

Each and every year, we end up seeing some of these players, former college stars, end up wearing the clothing of some of their most hated rivals, thanks to lost bets on Saturday afternoons. This week, it was both New York Giants star Abdul Carter and Indianapolis Colts star Tyler Warren — both rookies who played for the Penn State Nittany Lions a year ago — who were made to wear Oregon Ducks gear for their media availabilities on Wednesday.

That was due to the Ducks‘ 30-24 double-overtime win over the Nittany Lions on Saturday night, and thanks to some enforcement from Oregon alums Kayvon Thibodeaux and DeForest Buckner.

Credit to both Warren and Carter for following through on the bet, as Thibodeaux and Buckner would have had to if the ball bounced the other way and it was the Nittany Lions who prevailed in double OT. Ultimately, it’s a great show of sportsmanship, and the lifeblood of competition and fandom that lives on in these players long after they graduate.
