Jiri Prochazka gets two $50,000 extra checks

by

The UFC handed out five bonuses after Saturday’s card in Las Vegas, including a double bonus to a former champion.

After UFC 320, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and Jiri Prochazka took a second for $100K. Check out the winners below

Performance of the Night: Joe Pyfer

Joe Pyfer (15-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) got mostly taken to school in the first round against Abus Magomedov (28-7-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC) to open the main card. But the middleweight turned things around in the second and submitted Magomedov with a rear-naked choke for his third straight win.

Performance of the Night: Jiri Prochazka

Former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka (32-5-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC) was down two rounds to former title challenger Khalil Rountree Jr. (14-7 MMA, 10-7 UFC) on the main card, and it looked like he was having trouble pulling the trigger. After the second, his corner let him know he better go for broke – and he did. Prochazka took Rountree out with a stiffening one-punch knockout to put himself right back in the title picture. The fight was a banger and also won Fight of the Night (see below).

Performance of the Night: Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira (13-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) said he was fighting at less than 50 percent in March against Magomed Ankalaev (21-2-1 MMA, 12-2-1 UFC), and that played a big factor in his decision loss and surrendering of his light heavyweight title. Saturday in the main event, he took out Ankalaev in just 80 seconds to lend plenty of credence to that claim. He’s now the first two-division champion in UFC history to have a second title reign in one of the divisions.

Fight of the Night: Jiri Prochazka def. Khalil Rountree Jr.

When Prochazka wins fights, he wins bonuses in the UFC. It’s as simple as that. The former 205-pound champion has bonuses in all of his UFC wins – including, after UFC 320, two double bonuses. That erases the no bonuses from his two TKO losses to champ Alex Pereira and gives him eight bonuses in his eight UFC fights.
