Emma Raducanu picks match she lost as her favorite of 2025 season

Emma Raducanu may have lost to Aryna Sabalenka at Wimbledon but the Briton still ranks that match as her favorite of the 2025 season.

At this year's Wimbledon, Raducanu made some noise early on after she beat 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova in the second round. As a reward, the British tennis player got a chance to play against world No. 1 Sabalenka in front of her home fans on the Centre Court. While the Belarusian claimed a 7-6 (6) 6-4 win, it was all but an easy day at the office for the world No. 1 as the home star had a chance to serve out for the first set at 6-5, and also led 3-1 early in the second set.

Asked by Tennis Channel to rank her best match of 2025, Raducanu said: “I actually would, I’d say my match with Aryna, that served a spot. For the atmosphere, I think, and the viewing numbers were insane. So I think that could potentially be on the board."

Raducanu earned major praise by Sabalenka following their Wimbledon match

As mentioned above, the 32nd-ranked Briton led in each set against the top-ranked player in the game. And afterward, she earned praise and recognition from the four-time Grand Slam champion.

“Maybe not in a month, but maybe a bit longer period, she (Emma) is definitely going to get back [to the] top. She’s fighting. She’s playing much better. She’s more consistent. I’m pretty sure she’s getting there," Sabalenka said.

In mid-August, Raducanu met Sabalenka once again. This time, they clashed against each other in Cincinnati and the Briton came inches away from winning the match. Unfortunately for the 22-year-old, she fell just short after the Belarusian earned a narrow 7-6 (3) 4-6 7-6 (5) win in over three hours of play.

After the match, Sabalenka once again spoke highly of Raducanu's game.
