USC fans’ dream of UCLA football going 0-12 dies as Bruins stun Penn State

With the Trojans off this week, USC fans had the opportunity to pay more attention to other college football games. One of the games that I suggested watching this week was UCLA vs. Penn State, as the Bruins continued on their quest for a historic 0-12 season.

Well, the dream is officially dead. In one of the most stunning college football results in recent memory, UCLA knocked off the Nittany Lions, winning the game 42-37.

Obviously, this was an absolutely disastrous loss for Penn State. But from a USC perspective, it was rather heartbreaking, too. With the Trojans coming off of a frustrating loss to Illinois, there have been a lot of questions over the past week about if this will be yet another underachieving season for Lincoln Riley’s team. However, despite their team’s struggles, one thing that USC fans have had to be excited about was the legitimate possibility that the school across town could finish the regular season 0-12—an infamous feat that would have hovered over Westwood for decades.

So much for that. Regardless of how the rest of the year plays out, UCLA will not go winless in 2025.

Perhaps the most jarring part of the game was that, after four weeks of completely lifeless play, the Bruins actually looked like a competent football team
