Novak Djokovic did not have an easy task in the third round of the Shanghai Masters and he knew that he was up against a serious opponent; Yannick Hanfmann. In the end, Novak won.
There is no need to spend too many words about the game of the Serbian tennis player, considering that throughout his long career he has shown how superior he is in various aspects of the game.
However, it is natural to expect that he may not always perform at his best in his later playing year. The 39-year-old, in an interview with the media after the match, put special emphasis on his serve.
He believes that his serve makes a big difference in the game, and he also highlighted the fact that the courts of this year's tournament are significantly slower than last year.
In the end, the experienced tennis player is satisfied with his serve, but he is aware that he has to play better in other segments of the game if he wants to match opponents like Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz.
“Life on the court is easier or more difficult if you’re serving good or bad,” Djokovic said, as quoted by Tennis Gazette.
“The first couple of matches here, I must say that probably stands out as the best shot in my game. It makes a difference, you know. It made a difference for him.
He broke my serve early in the first, and he held his serve comfortably all the way until the end of the second. So even though the courts are slower than they were last year, and the balls as well.
But if you’re hitting your spots well with the serve, it’s tough, it’s tough to break serve. I’m really glad with the way I’m serving.
I need to improve my game overall from the baseline. I know what needs to be better, and hopefully it will be in the next round already.”
What can we expect?
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the famous tennis player and what challenges await him. While we are aware that his career will not last long, on the other hand, fans hope that we will enjoy the performances of Novak Djokovic in the remaining period of his career.
