Domingo Miotti Shows Impressive form for Montpellier in Top 14

by

If Argentina need an SOS call for a fly half then there is a player waiting. The player is former Puma Domingo Miotti. The 29-year-old has shown impressive form during the opening five rounds of the French Top 14 season. The Tucumano is tied for 3rd position for most points scored this season.

Miotti has scored 57 points in the opening five rounds for Montpellier. Highlights include scoring 13 points in round two and 17 in round three. The latter saw Montpellier completing an upset win over Toulouse. An additional highlight came this past weekend with Miotti scoring 20 points in the 37-13 win over La Rochelle. Miotti was a try scorer and kicked five goals.

ARGENTINE FLY HALF DEPTH

Miotti is into his second season at Montpellier. The five time capped Argentine has not yet played for Los Pumas under Felipe Contepomi. If his form continues then this may change for Los Pumas’s November test matches against Scotland, Wales and England in the UK.

Contepomi has not shied away from given players opportunities. In 2025 he has had four different players starting test matches at fly half: Tomás Albornoz, Santiago Carreras, Nicolás Roger and Gerónimo Prisciantelli. Roger and Prisciantelli are both rookies.

In terms of other options, Miotti is one of two Argentine fly halves putting up his hand in Europe’s elite this season. Uncapped Argentine fly half Martín Roger kicked Zebre Parma to victory against and the Glasgow Warriors and the Lions.

In addition to Argentina’s three match tour in November, the Argentina XV will also be in action. Past Argentina XV tours have included European-based Argentines. For instance, Albornoz and Prisciantelli both featured for the Argentina XV against Portugal and Georgia in Europe in 2022.
