Nebraska football DB DeShon Singleton named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

by

Nebraska football defensive back DeShon Singleton was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. This was announced on social media.

Singleton had a tremendous game against the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday. He had six tackles and two interceptions on the afternoon, in a career day for the senior. He was able to help nullify the Spartans’ offense and stabilize the program on a day when offense in general was at a premium.

Singleton has had a tremendous start to the 2025 season. He has 23 total tackles, a fumble recovery, a pass deflection and those two interceptions. He has been a key component of a stellar Huskers defensive unit, and he demonstrated that on Saturday.

Nebraska football will need him to continue playing at a high level as the schedule gets tougher. It seems like he has a tendency to step up in these big moments, and Saturday was proof of that.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-1, 1-1) retake the field on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they travel to the East Coast to face the Maryland Terrapins (4-1, 1-1). Kickoff time is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on the Big Ten Network..
