Patchy Mix’s UFC run has not gone as expected.
Mix (20-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) lost a split decision to octagon newcomer Jakub Wiklacz (17-3-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 320 prelim bantamweight bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. All three judges awarded him Round 3, with one of the judges giving him Round 2.
The former Bellator champion was confident he could make a title run upon signing with the UFC, but finds himself 0-2 after decision losses to Mario Bautista and Wiklacz. Mix kept his head high when addressing the loss.
“Walking home from the arena, man, it just hits you, you know?” Mix said on his Facebook. “Just got to keep it in perspective. Can’t win split decisions and be happy when I win them and then when I lose them, I can’t be upset, either. Much respect to my opponent and his team, and just got to get back to the drawing board, get better.”
Prior to signing with the UFC, Mix was considered one of the top bantamweights in MMA. His Bellator run included wins over Magomed Magomedov twice, Sergio Pettis, Raufeon Stots and Kyoji Horiguchi.
