“I think our medical report, first one of the week, comes out tonight so stay tuned,” Heupel said on the SEC coaches teleconference.

Hobbs has not played this season since suffering a preseason foot injury as No. 12 Tennessee (4-1, 1-1 SEC) readies to host Arkansas (2-3, 0-1) on Oct. 11 (4:15 p.m. ET, SEC Network) at Neyland Stadium.

“Daevin had a great offseason and was playing extremely well during the course of training camp and unfortunate but those things happen in this game,” Heupel said. “He had done a great job in the rehab process.”

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Hobbs had 20 tackles including 2½ tackles for loss and a sack in 2024 as a sophomore. He has played in 23 games in his first two seasons. The former four-star recruit in the 2023 class has dealt with shoulder injuries in his career.

Hobbs’ potential return would be the latest boost to Tennessee’s interior defensive line.

The Vols got senior defensive tackle Jaxson Moi back for their 41-34 overtime win against Mississippi State on Sept. 27. Moi had not played since suffering an upper-body injury early in UT’s season-opening 45-26 win on Aug. 30.
