It’s a rough year for Conference USA.
Two of the best teams – Delaware and Missouri State – are new and ineligible to play in the conference title game or a bowl, there’s rebuilding all over the place, and Louisiana Tech and Kennesaw State are primed to swoop in and take advantage of the opening.
The Owls overcame a rough start against Wake Forest and Indiana by rolling through the next three games. They have issues, but they’re playing well, and they’re winning. There isn’t a game left on the schedule that they can’t win.
Louisiana Tech is finally getting rolling under Sonny Cumbie, but not in the way everyone expected. The offense is sputtering, but the defense has been a terror at taking the ball away. With home games against WKU and Sam Houston up next, there’s a chance to go on a roll with a win.

There’s a problem on third downs, but the ground game has been consistently good, and the passing attack has perked up over the last few weeks.

Can Kennesaw State Avoid Giving the Ball Away To Louisiana Tech?
The Owls don’t do much to take the ball away – they can’t get into a turnover battle.
The problem is the Louisiana Tech run defense – it leads CUSA, allowing just 106 yards per game. Even LSU couldn’t move well on this bunch.
