It looks like the reported Men’s WarGames lineup for this year’s WWE Survivor Series might not be as far-fetched as some initially believed.
As previously noted, the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter listed a surprising prospective lineup for the Men’s WarGames match, which would feature CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, Jey Uso, and either Jimmy Uso or LA Knight taking on Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, and Austin Theory. The combination immediately drew attention online, with many fans and even some within WWE questioning whether that group was actually under consideration.
Fightful Select followed up on the report and confirmed that the lineup was indeed one of the options on the table for Survivor Series as of last week. Sources clarified that the WarGames match was discussed internally in creative meetings, and while it’s not the definitive plan, it’s not “out there” or unrealistic, either.
Importantly, Fightful stressed the phrase “one of” the options being discussed — indicating that the card remains fluid and that multiple scenarios have been pitched for the men’s side of the event. At this point, it’s not clear what the other potential variations might look like.
WWE’s current working lineup for Survivor Series — which is scheduled for November 29 at Petco Park in San Diego, California — currently includes the following matches being discussed or planned:
* Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre or Jacob Fatu
* WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. John Cena
* Men’s WarGames Match: CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, Jey Uso, and either Jimmy Uso or LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, and Austin Theory
* Women’s WarGames Match: AJ Lee, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & IYO SKY vs. Becky Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax & Lash Legend
While some names in those prospective matches may raise eyebrows, there’s reason to believe WWE is exploring a wide range of creative possibilities leading into the event.
One notable inclusion is Austin Theory, who has been out of action with an injury in recent weeks. Theory is expected to be cleared and return in time for the build to Survivor Series. Prior to his injury, WWE had been setting up a storyline between Theory and Grayson Waller that positioned Theory as the babyface — a creative shift that was quietly dropped once he was sidelined.
Despite his inconsistent booking, multiple sources have described Theory as a talent who will “get several chances” due to his marketable look and overall presentation, with one noting that “he looks like a star.”
The lineup, while not finalized, reflects Triple H’s approach to maintaining stability in long-term creative planning. While WWE creative has always been subject to change, there have reportedly been far fewer late pivots and rewrites under Levesque’s leadership compared to the Vince McMahon era.
Survivor Series remains one of WWE’s most storied pay-per-view events, standing alongside WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble as a cornerstone of the company’s annual calendar. Since its inception in 1987, the event has produced some of the most memorable moments in WWE history — including iconic performances from Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and Bret Hart, among countless others.
The WarGames format, introduced to the main roster in 2022, has revitalized the brand in recent years by bringing a modern, chaotic twist to the traditional Survivor Series formula. With names like Punk, Reigns, Rollins, and Ripley potentially involved this year, Survivor Series 2025 could be shaping up to be one of the most star-studded editions in recent memory.
