Fans in Australia got to see a last match between two amazing rivals. John Cena and AJ Styles tore the house down in Perth, but that was expected.
WWE Crown Jewel 2025 was quite a night at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. John Cena was there for one of his final matches as well.
Before his retirement at the end of 2025, John Cena named AJ Styles as one of the wrestlers he wanted to face. After losing at Wrestlepalooza, Cena posted on X calling for the match, and Styles quickly agreed. Triple H later made it official for WWE Crown Jewel. Reports from Fightful Select noted that the buildup happened entirely online since Cena had no scheduled television appearances before the event.
This match went on third of the night, right after Stephanie Vaquer was able to clinch the WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Championship. Naturally, fans were more than ready for this match with John Cena.
WWE picked yellow for tonight’s John Cena t-shirt. So, the entire arena was a sea of yellow as the Greatest of All Time made his way to the ring. This match had a big fight feel as Alicia Taylor gave them amazing ring introductions. Cena even wrote AJ Styles’ as he called him “The Face that Runs The Place” one last time. That was special, and fans were chanting “holy sh*t” before they even touched.
The match got started, and the two shoo-in WWE Hall of Famers started to feel each other out. As things picked up, the fans stayed with things. Cena was able to hit an Attitude Adjustment, but Styles kicked out as fans chanted “this is awesome.”
Cena was also able to nail a Skull Crushing Finale, which is The Miz’s finisher. Styles was able to come back, but Cena kicked out of everything that he absorbed. As they continued, Cena was able to get an STFU locked in as Styles got out and put his own crossface in. Cena answered back to that by transitioning it into a Camel Clutch, but then Styles got a Coquina Clutch in to answer that.
Then John Cena reversed a Calf Crusher attempt by getting a Walls of Jericho on Styles. Fans in Perth exploded when they saw Chris Jericho’s submission. Styles and Cena traded counter for counter with submission holds for a bit until AJ hit a Styles Clash for a near fall. Then John Cena hit a Sister Abigail (complete with a kiss to the forehead) for a very close near fall. Fans exploded for the Bray Wyatt homage as they broke out cell phone flashlights in a big way to let the fireflies out. Cena took a moment to soak all that in.
The match kept going and then Cena hit an RKO for a near fall. Fans in Perth really loved seeing that spot as well. Styles moved out of the way of a punt like Randy Orton would do, and he hit a move for a near fall of his own. Then Styles kicked out of an Undertaker like chokeslam that was a callback to the Boneyard Match. Fans started chanting 6-1-9, because that’s what they wanted to see out of Cena next.
Cena then set up for the 6-1-9, but Styles stopped him, which really killed his momentum and upset the fans. Styles went for a 450 Splash after that, but couldn’t get the pinfall. Then Styles hit a Sweet Chin Music for a near fall. Then Cena was able to kick out after a Phenomenal Forearm. Cena got out of a Styles Clash and then AJ got out of another AA. But finally, Cena hit an AA for another near fall. Fans chanted “this is awesome” after that as well.
Finally, Cena caught AJ Styles and nailed a Tombstone Piledriver followed by an AA for the win. This was a definite conclusion to this historic rivalry.
