Iowa women’s basketball recruit cuts Hawkeyes from final four schools

by

One of Iowa women’s basketball’s final major targets in the 2026 recruiting class has cut the Hawkeyes from consideration.

Amari Byles, a 6-foot-2 forward out of Texas, revealed that she has trimmed her potential college choices to four in a TikTok post. After making her final six schools and having an official visit lined up to Iowa on Oct. 24, Byles revealed that she’s down to a final four of Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State and Baylor.

Byles visited Iowa in the summer of 2024 and has been a target on the Hawkeyes’ board for some time. But, the talented forward from Kingdom Collegiate Academy and Adidas squad SW Select 3SSB is headed elsewhere.

Byles just wrapped up an official visit with the Irish.

During her junior season at Faith Family Academy, Byles averaged 14.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for an Eagles team that earned an invitation to the 2025 Chipotle Nationals. In their semifinal loss to Montverde Academy (Florida), Byles posted 18 points, five rebounds and six assists.

Iowa recently earned a commitment from five-star forward McKenna Woliczko and the Hawkeyes are heavily in the mix for five-star forward Addison Bjorn and five-star guard Jenica Lewis.
