For the first time under head coach Robyn Fralick, Michigan State women’s basketball is a preseason top-25 team in the AP Poll. The Spartans came in at No. 23 in the first poll of the 2025-26 season.
The Spartans have been building some nice consistency under Robyn Fralick, who MSU hired from Bowling Green to replace long-time head coach Suzy Merchant. Last year, MSU women’s basketball made consecutive NCAA Tournaments for the first time since the 2016-17 season, where they lost to No. 2 seed NC State.

MSU won’t have an easy road this year, as they will have to navigate a fearsome Big Ten Conference that includes multiple top-25 teams like UCLA, Maryland, Michigan, USC, and Iowa. The Spartans’ season will officially kick off on November 4 with a game against Mercyhurst. Conference play will begin on December 7 against Wisconsin.
