San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills four-star quarterback Troy Huhn has decommitted from Penn State, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Thursday.
He was committed to the Nittany Lions since June of last year, but is now back on the board following the firing of head coach James Franklin earlier this week.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder was one of many blue-chippers who locked in with PSU early on in their recruitment. The Nittany Lions had two QBs in their 2026 class at one time, but four-star Peyton Falzone eventually flipped to Auburn. Huhn was the guy for Franklin, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and Co., but the staff shakeup in Happy Valley has led to his decommitment.
“Penn State is the school for me because of what they do for me,” Huhn told Rivals’ Chad Simmons this May. “The unconditional love they show me is unbelievable and I’m so grateful for it … I am done. They have always done such a great job keeping good care of me, nonstop checking in, making sure I am happy.”
Huhn is balling as a senior after leading Mission Hills to eight wins in 2024. He was invited to this summer’s Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles. And through seven games as a senior, he has completed 75% of his passes while throwing for 1,432 yards and 18 touchdowns.

He threw for more than 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior. That followed a sophomore campaign that witnessed over 1,600 passing yards and 16 more scores through the air.
Huhn the No. 233 overall prospect and No. 17 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 26 player in California.
