Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders offered a unique way to help out his player who aren’t getting playing time. He held a bye week scrimmage, giving them a rare chance to perform in a mock gameday environment.

However, Sanders had a clear message for those who decided to take part in the exhibition practice. “A lot of you guys that don’t get to play, you’re going to get your chance today,” Sanders said via Reach The People Media.

“This is your chance because I’m not crazy enough to think that all of you are going to be in this room next year. Some of you are going to jump in the portal. This is an opportunity for you to get some portal film.”

Sanders said the program would cut up the film and hype up the players for their next stop. “You’ll be looking good in your portal tape,” he added.

Colorado has used the portal as an important recruiting tool during Sanders’ tenure. He was one of the first college football coaches to flip rosters by this method. The Buffaloes added 31 transfers this offseason after losing over 25 with a smaller high school class.
