Manon Fiorot opens up on training at famed gym

VANCOUVER – Manon Fiorot has made some changes after falling short in her UFC title fight.

Fiorot (12-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) was defeated by flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 315 in May, marking her first octagon loss. She will look to rebound when she takes on Jasmine Jasudavicius (14-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 262 (ESPN+) main card at Rogers Arena.

Fiorot spent this training camp prepping with famed coach Firas Zahabi at Tristar Gym, home of former two-division UFC champion and Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre.

“It was the first time I leave my hometown to train outside and train with Firas Zahabi and Rob for my striking,” Fiorot told MMA Junkie and other reporters through an interpreter at Wednesday’s media day. “I made new skills, and you’ll see Saturday a new Manon with a new game plan and new stuff. I’m really happy to show that Saturday.”

So what has Fiorot been working on?

“It’s not about big change, just adjustment,” Fiorot said. “Little move on my skills, on my striking game and my wrestling game. If I had to say one word, adjustment.”

A rebound at home would have been a perfect spot for Fiorot, but September was a little too soon for the French native.

“I didn’t have much opposition for Paris, but to be honest, it was too close and too early after my defeat,” Fiorot said. “I needed more time to refocus on me. This is really good for me to fight now.”
