After several decades in the college basketball landscape, legendary coach Bruce Pearl, most recently of the Auburn Tigers, announced his retirement on Sept. 22.
Pearl, 65, handed the reins to his son, Steven Pearl, and on Thursday revealed a new career move.

While he won’t be returning to coaching, he’s staying close to the sport by signing a deal with CBS Sports to call games and provide in-studio coverage throughout the college basketball season. He’ll also work with TNT Sports alongside Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Jamal Mashburn, and Adam Lefkoe when the season tips off on Nov. 3.
“Excited to be part of this incredibly talented group, showcasing college basketball,” Pearl wrote on X. “The quality of our game right now has never been better. There are dozens of teams capable of making a Final Four run, and we are going to bring ALL THAT ACTION!”

He also shared the news about joining the CBS Sports crew alongside Robbie Hummel, writing, “So grateful for the opportunity to join CBS SPORTS. The song One Shining Moment still brings tears to my eyes and such fond memories. I so wanted to help my teams play for championships in March, and I can’t wait to deliver analysis of college basketball throughout the season!”

Bruce Pearl has cemented himself as one of the greatest coaches in college basketball over the past several decades, finding success wherever he went. He won four SEC Coach of the Year honors, three Horizon League Coach of the Year awards, and two GLVC Coach of the Year accolades.

Pearl had coaching stints at Milwaukee, Tennessee, and ultimately Auburn, where he spent the final 11 seasons of his career. Over the course of his college coaching career, he compiled a record of 477–224, achieving a .680 winning percentage.
