Chile has named a 32-man roster to prepare to take-on Italy in the November Internationals. Los Cóndores will face the Azzurri at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa on Saturday, November 22. The contest is presently the only confirmed fixture for Italy; though Scotland and Italy have been in negotiations about a match in Scotland on November 29.
Pablo Lemoine’s roster has come out following the announcement of Gonzalo Quesada’s Italian squad. The November Internationals are a mandatory player release window. Notwithstanding, Chile will not have all players due to clubs having released players for the Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifiers wherein Chile faced Brazil, Uruguay and Samoa.
French-based players Iñaki Ayarza, Diego Escobar and Javier Eissmann are not on the roster due to the aforementioned agreement. Their clubs freed them for two months; a vital period which saw Chile overcome the odds to beat Samoa in Viña del Mar and, in doing so, qualify for Rugby World Cup 2027.
In addition to Ayarza, Chile is also without fellow winger Nicolás Garafulic. The Selknam outside back ruptured his achilles tendón playing against Samoa in Salt Lake City.
Chile’s roster is not entirely without European-based players. Scrum-half Lucas Berti and fly half Rodrigo Fernández are both on the roster. Berti’s inclusion comes with regular Benjamín Videla missing.
Clemente Saavedra continues on as skipper with Martín Sigren yet to return to the field following his serious injury suffered during Super Rugby Americas 2025 against Los Tarucas.
Italy’s match against Chile will officially open international competition between the countries. Both Italy and Chile are coached by neutrals. Quesada is from Argentina while Pablo Lemoine is from Uruguay. Both played at Rugby World Cups 1999 and 2003.
