Sophie Cunningham played just 30 games for the Indiana Fever during the 2025 season after suffering a knee injury that ended her campaign. She tore her right MCL during an August game against the Connecticut Sun, forcing her to undergo surgery to address the issue.
The 29-year-old guard averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game, as she established herself as a reliable backup and enforcer for the Fever.

Unfortunately for the Fever, their season ended in the WNBA semifinals, where they lost to the Las Vegas Aces. The injury-riddled Indiana squad, who played without Cunningham, Caitlin Clark and three others, pushed Becky Hammon’s squad to the edge before bowing in overtime in Game 5.
Now, as Cunningham continues her recovery in the WNBA offseason, she revealed a change in her lifestyle.
“I’m starting to just like be more confident and just be a vet and do all that,” Cunningham shared in the latest episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast. “At the end of the day, I’m so blessed to get to dribble a damn basketball for a living. So why would I not embrace and just like pour into my body more than ever?”

She then added, “And so I started a new diet today.”

While Cunningham didn’t specify what kind of change she made, she noted that she’s following the “80/20 rule” when it comes to what she eats.
“Like 80% of the time do good. 20% of the time just enjoy your life,” Cunningham stated.
Cunningham is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so it will be interesting to see where she plays next season. Caitlin Clark did tell the veteran guard that she wants to “run it back” with her, but free agency can be tricky — especially for a Fever team that has only three out of 16 players under contract for 2026.

Regardless of the team she joins, Cunningham is staying ready and making sure she’s in her best condition when she returns to the court.
