The 40th European Chess Club Cup and the 29th European Women’s Chess Club Cup open this weekend on the Greek island of Rhodes, bringing together a record 122 teams from across the continent. The event features 102 clubs in the open section and 20 in the women’s, totalling around 800 players competing over seven rounds.
Both tournaments follow a 7-round Swiss system with a time control of 90 minutes for 30 moves, followed by 30 additional minutes to finish the game, plus a 30-second increment per move from the start of the game.
Rounds are played daily from Sunday, 19 October until Saturday, 25 October, starting at 15.00 local time (except for the final round, which starts one hour earlier).
