The Defending Champion: L.A. has played 10 postseason games and sits at 9-1, after sweeping Milwaukee in the NLCS. Dodgers ace Blake Snell put together a masterful performance in Game 1, striking out 10 across eight innings of one-hit baseball. L.A. won 2-1. In Game 2, the Dodgers turned to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and he didn’t disappoint, surrendering a lead-off home run and then allowing just two more hits in a complete-game performance. He struck out seven and walked one in the 5-1 Dodgers victory. In Game 3, Tyler Glasnow struck out eight, allowing one run and three hits in 5.2 innings. The Dodgers won 3-1. Lastly, in Game 4, Shohei Ohtani struck out 10 in six scoreless innings, allowing two hits. He also hit three home runs. The Dodgers won 5-1. On to the World Series.
The Challengers: Next on the board are the Blue Jays, who tied their ALCS matchup with the Mariners by winning Game 6 in Toronto, forcing a Game 7 at home on Monday. Seattle won Games 1 and 2 in Toronto, 3-1 and 10-3, respectively. The Jays won Games 3 and 4 in Seattle, 13-4 and 8-2, respectively. Seattle won Game 5 at home, 6-2, and then Toronto won Game 6 at home, 6-2. Talk about a back-and-forth affair. Game 7 will take place Monday on Canadian soil, with a berth in the World Series at stake.
