No. 3 Texas A&M (7-0, 4-0 SEC) defeated Arkansas (2-5, 0-3 SEC) 45-42 in one of the crazier games of the weekend, as the Aggie defense could not stop quarterback Taylen Green, who, if it weren’t for the Razorbacks’ poor record, would be a Heisman contender based on his recent play. However, Texas A&M’s offense continued to make plays, scoring on all but two drives.
Starting quarterback Marcel Reed has lived up to his preseason potential, and after throwing for 280 yards and three touchdowns, paired with a rushing score against the Razorbacks, the redshirt sophomore has thrown for 1,770 yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions, while rushing for 241 yards and four touchdowns.

Paired with another 200-yard rushing performance, Texas A&M’s running back room looked solid despite senior Le’Veon Moss being sidelined for the next two or three games. However, after allowing over 500 yards, including 268 rushing yards, head coach Mike Elko was adamant after the game that this was nowhere near the Aggies’ “standard” and would be fixed moving forward.
Texas A&M will now turn its attention to the LSU Tigers, facing the Tigers in Baton Rouge for the first time since the 2023 season, this time, in primetime on ABC. The road trip doesn’t stop there, as the Aggies will face No. 15 Missouri on Saturday, November 8, before heading back to College Station for the second bye week of the season.
Focusing on the LSU Tigers, they are coming off a disappointing, potentially season-altering road loss to Vanderbilt. They will now reportedly be without one of the offense’s key players, as it was revealed that starting left tackle Tyree Adams could miss “multiple games,” according to 247Sports reporter Matt Zenitz.
Per Pro Football Focus, Adams has earned an average pass protection grade (63.1) and a below-average run blocking grade (54.1) through seven games.

However, his size is 6’7″ and 310 pounds, and he has kept quarterback Garrett Nussmeier clean for most of the season. But against Texas A&M’s violent pass rush, led by senior edge Cashius Howell, who has already recorded 8.5 sacks, Nussmeier could be on the move and forced to make plays out of structure.
No. 3 Texas A&M will face No. 20 LSU in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m. The game will air on ABC.
