The Big 12 Conference came down on Arizona State after a 26-22 win over Texas Tech on Saturday. On top of a public reprimand, the Sun Devils were handed a $50,000 fine. This is all due to fans storming the field after the game.

“The Big 12 prioritizes the safety of all players, coaches and officials,” Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement. “The Conference will continue to work with all of its institutions on event management policies at all Big 12 venues.”

ASU gave the Red Raiders their first loss of the season. Sun Devils running back Raleek Brown thrashed his way into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown with 34 seconds left, keeping their Big 12 title defense hopes alive.

This comes as the Big 12 has started to crack down on postgame celebrations across the entire league. The first fine is a standard $50K with subsequent fines larger for repeat offenders. Texas Tech will be battling this rule often from here on out with the traditional tortilla toss now essentially banned.

The Sun Devils look to stay in the mix with five games left and no ranked opponents remaining.
