No. 3 Texas A&M (7-0, 4-0 SEC) will head to Baton Rouge for the first time since the 2023 season to face No. 20 LSU (5-2, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday night. For second-year head coach Mike Elko, this will be his first road trip to Death Valley since serving as the Aggies’ defensive coordinator (2018-2021). This season, as you can tell by the records alone, both teams are on separate paths.
After defeating Arkansas 45-42, behind starting quarterback Marcel Reed’s impressive 280-yard passing performance, which resulted in three touchdowns paired with another rushing score, Texas A&M’s defense allowed over 500 yards, but on Wednesday, Elko stated that his veteran defenders responded to the poor play with a solid week of practice.

However, for the second straight week, senior safety Bryce Anderson will not play in the game due to an undisclosed injury, while star running back Le’Veon Moss and freshman safety Rashad “Tom Tom” Johnson Jr. are also designated as out against LSU. Moss, who is expected to miss at least two to three more weeks, could return after the Aggies’ Week 11 road game vs. Missouri, which is after next weekend’s second bye week.
For LSU, starting left tackle Tyree Adams is officially out, and starting linebacker Whit Weeks is formally doubtful. This will impact LSU’s defense and could open up the run game, creating more opportunities for play action. For the Aggies, this list is not expected to change, so overall, Texas A&M will be at nearly complete health before facing the Tigers in primetime.
