Area unofficially sending three teams into the playoffs, plus Week 10 football roundup

It’s unofficial, but according to JoeEitel.com, the Ohio high school football computer points monitoring site, three Marion-area teams made the playoffs for 2025 as regional berths were trimmed from 16 to 12 per region before the season started by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Mount Gilead already knew it was in the postseason, but with its 9-1 record, it also earned a bye into Week 12 where it will host a game as a likely No. 4 seed Nov. 8 in Division VI, Region 23.

North Union (6-4) was all but assured a playoff spot, and despite a tough Week 10 loss, the Wildcats will likely host a playoff game Nov. 1 against No. 9 Greeneview (7-3) in Division V, Region 20.

Ridgedale (6-4) ended a 22-year drought between earning postseason berths, and it appears the Rockets will go to No. 5 Gibsonburg (7-3) as a No. 12 seed in Division VII, Region 26.

Here is how the Marion-area’s football teams fared in Week 10, the final week of the regular season:

Ridgedale 49, Perry 0

The Rockets recorded their third straight shutout and fourth in five weeks as they rallied with five wins in the last six games to earn that likely postseason berth.

Ridgedale (6-4, 5-3) led the Northwest Central Conference game at Perry (4-6, 3-5) by a field goal after the first quarter and 20-0 at halftime before pulling away in the second half. The Rockets got four rushing touchdowns, two passing TDs and two field goals. They also intercepted three passes and recovered a fumble.

Pleasant 21, Highland 7

In a season where it won its first game, Pleasant bookended it with a victory in Week 10 in the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference. According to MaxPreps.com, the Spartans (2-8, 1-6) recovered an onside kick to start the third quarter then scored two minutes later to take a 14-7 lead.

Highland (3-7, 2-5) scored on the ground in the first quarter, but Pleasant tied it by halftime. The Spartans had two rushing TDs and one in the air.

Elgin 30, Hardin Northern 8

The Comets (6-4, 5-3) rolled in the NWCC matchup with Hardin Northern (1-9, 1-7).

Brennon Luikart paced the Elgin attack with 170 yards on nine carries including a 63-yard touchdown, and Archer Johnston backed him with 118 yards on 15 touches, scoring three touchdowns including a 49-yarder. Jack VanGundy added 62 yards running on 11 carries.

On defense for Elgin, Cooper Lykins intercepted a pass. and Aiden Anderson recovered a fumble. T.J. Britton paced them with 10 tackles followed by seven from VanGundy and six from Garret Lowry. The Comets had 14 players record a tackle. The team combined for 13 tackles for loss.

Graham 39, North Union 35

North Union (6-4, 3-2) led the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division game 29-13 at halftime and 35-19 into the fourth quarter, but Graham (8-2, 4-1) rallied for 20 unanswered points in the closing minutes.

Graham ended with 448 total yards and 25 first down as NU had 228 yards and 13 first downs.

Griffin Osborne returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, adding 23 rushing yards, five catches for 53 yards and 12 tackles for the Wildcats. Nickolas Hajjar was 8 of 12 passing for 78 yards and a 19-yard touchdown to Gavin Potts. Nick VanHoose ran it 19 times for 103 yards and two scores. Ethan Miller and Gunnar Delp both recovered fumbles. Wyatt Arver posted 10 tackles with nine from Kadrin Riffle and eight from Trenor Kyte

Northmor 41, Loudonville 19

The Golden Knights (6-4, 4-3) led 20-13 at halftime before pulling away in the second half against Loudonville (3-7, 1-6). Northmor dominated the stat sheet with 449 total yards and 31 first downs, while the Redbirds managed just 130 yards and eight first downs.

Carson Campbell paced Northmor with 127 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, plus had five catches for 87 yards and made an interception on defense. Tanner Miley ran for two touchdowns and 71 yards on 20 carries, while also passing for 251 yards and a score on 21 of 31 completions. Brady Carr made seven catches for 95 yards and Conner Stockdale four for 62 and a touchdown.

Shelby 37, Marion Harding 6

Shelby completed its second straight 10-0 season and won its sixth MOAC title in seven seasons, going 7-0. Also for the Whippets Brayden DeVito moved his career rushing touchdowns to 68 and become the school’s all-time leader as he ran it 18 times for 72 yards and three TDs agianst the Presidents (3-7, 2-5). DeVito threw it for 237 yards and two more scores, completing 14 of 25 passes.

For Marion Harding, Landen Keller scored a 3-yard touchdown and led the team with 23 yards on nine carries. Jaden Jordan was 5 of 17 passing for 69 yards. The Prexies were held to 105 total yards.

Ontario 44, River Valley 14

Ontario is 6-4, 4-3, while the Vikings end at 3-7, 2-5. No other details were provided.
