As the 2025-26 Iowa women’s basketball season approaches, the Hawkeyes welcomed highly-touted 2026 five-star shooting guard recruit, Jenica Lewis, to campus on an official visit on Saturday.

In addition to her time at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and with the women’s basketball program, Lewis got to take in Iowa football’s 41-3 blowout win over Minnesota from Kinnick Stadium.

The 5-foot-10 native of Johnston, Iowa, is one of the Hawkeyes’ most coveted prospects in the 2026 class as she ranks as the No. 22 overall recruit, as the No. 4 shooting guard and as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Iowa, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Rivals ranks Lewis as the nation’s No. 17 player and as the No. 5 combo guard in 2026, while ESPN rates Lewis as the country’s No. 24 player overall.

As the Hawkeyes have done with almost every other recruiting visit over the past two months, the program showcased the university’s profound passion for athletics by inviting them to attend an Iowa football game at Kinnick Stadium. For Lewis, she witnessed the Hawkeyes dominate in their rivalry game against Minnesota and retain the Floyd of Rosedale trophy.

Lewis stars at Johnston High School just outside Des Moines, where she was honored as the 2024-25 Iowa MaxPreps High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Lewis averaged 18 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game while shooting 47% from the field, 35% from 3-point range and 88% from the free-throw line.

With Lewis leading the way, Johnston High School captured a second straight Class 5A state championship and finished with a perfect 26-0 record in the 2024-25 season.

The prized Iowan also starred on All-Iowa Attack over the summer, the Nike EYBL squad that once featured Caitlin Clark and Hannah Stuelke, among others. Adding to the program’s recruiting connection is the fact that fellow Hawkeye 2026 five-star small forward Addison Bjorn also played on the same All-Iowa Attack squad.

Lewis announced her top five destinations on Aug. 7, which included Iowa, Notre Dame, Oregon, North Carolina, and TCU.

After official visits to TCU on Sept. 13 and Notre Dame on Oct. 11, Iowa is listed as Lewis’ final official visit.

With McKenna Woliczko already a part of the 2026 class, adding Lewis and potentially Bjorn would deliver a historic class and go a long ways toward ensuring the Hawkeyes remain a perennial powerhouse within the Big Ten and also the nationally.
