It’s been more than a decade since Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao squared off in the ring, and do we really need a rematch between them at their current ages? Of course not. Would a lot of people watch? In this day and age when an increased number of American enjoys figurative circus sideshows in combat sports, absolutely.
That explains a Monday report from Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger, who tweeted that Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 “is being explored to take place next year as another Netflix boxing event,” according to sources.
The first fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, which Mayweather won by unanimous decision on May 2, 2015, still remains the most-watched boxing event with 4.6 million pay-per-view buys. This, despite the fact that the fight took place probably five years later than it should’ve while both men were in their absolute primes.
