Wisconsin Badgers dismiss forward for ‘events preceding his enrollment’

by

The Wisconsin Badgers have dismissed senior forward Elijah Gray from the men’s basketball team, they announced in a press release on Tuesday.

According to the press release, he was dismissed due to “events preceding his enrollment at UW-Madison” and “privacy laws limit the university’s ability to share more at this time.”

Gray was entering his first season at Wisconsin after transferring in from the Temple Owls, where he spent the 2024-25 season after starting his career at Fordham. He appeared in 25 games for Temple off the bench, averaging 9.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 19.8 minutes of action.

The 6-foot-9 forward played in 61 games across two seasons at Fordham, making nine starts. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.7 rebounds as a sophomore, shooting 42.0% from the field and 76.7% from the free-throw line.

Wisconsin announced his addition in July, making him the fifth and final transfer that head coach Greg Gard added ahead of the 2025-26 season. Gray was not ranked as a transfer and did not appear in their first two exhibitions ahead of the season.
