Penelope Ford Pulled from Tag Tournament After Suffering UCL Tear

by

Penelope Ford is officially out of action after suffering a UCL tear during the October 22 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The injury went public during the October 29 Fright Night edition of Dynamite, where Ford appeared to reveal the damage and confirm she’s “out indefinitely.”

Ford was originally slated to team with Megan Bayne in the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title tournament. The duo was set to face Anna Jay and Tay Melo in the first round, but plans have changed. With Ford sidelined, Marina Shafir has now stepped in as Bayne’s new partner.

The injury occurred during a chaotic four-way tag match that aired on October 22. Ford and Bayne faced Jamie Hayter & Queen Aminata, Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale, and the Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue). Toward the end of the match, Ford executed a moonsault—but that’s where the damage happened. Moments later, she was pinned after taking a vicious headbutt–clothesline combo from Hayter and Aminata.

This marks a rough setback for Ford, who’s been fighting to regain momentum in AEW. Losing her spot in the tournament is a major blow, especially with the Women’s Tag Titles finally in play. Now all eyes are on Marina Shafir and how she fits into the mix with Megan Bayne.

AEW hasn’t released a recovery timeline, and with UCL injuries often requiring extended time off—or even surgery—it’s unclear when fans will see Ford back in the ring.

How do you feel about AEW reshuffling its tournament plans? Can Marina Shafir step up and deliver, or will Ford’s absence derail Bayne’s shot at gold? Drop your thoughts in the comments below—we want to hear from you.
