MILWAUKEE — Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play in Thursday’s 120-110 win over the Golden State Warriors.
Antetokounmpo was listed as probable on the team’s injury report because of left knee soreness throughout the day, but he was a late scratch about an hour before tipoff after he went through his pregame warmup.
Bucks coach Doc Rivers said he did not have an update on Antetokounmpo after the game, but Milwaukee’s two-time MVP was laughing and joking with his teammates in the locker room.
It was the first game Antetokounmpo has missed this season, although he has appeared on the injury report as probable before each game.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 36.3 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists on 69.5% shooting, and the Bucks kept rolling without him, improving to 4-1 after eight players scored in double figures, including a career-high 32 points from point guard Ryan Rollins.
It was the second game in a row Rollins posted a career-best scoring performance, surpassing the mark he set Tuesday night when he scored 25 points against the New York Knicks.
“I won’t say we knew it, but we realized that first couple of days of training camp … we have a lot of people that can put the ball in the hoop,” Rollins said after the game. “A lot of people that are dogs, they compete, play fast, play the right way, and that’s just big for us.
“Everybody’s going to have a chance to eat, and that’s kind of been our motto since the jump. It’s going to be somebody’s night every night, a new person’s night.”
