During Iowa women’s basketball’s dismantling of Division II-level Ashland by a score of 104-63 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday in their lone preseason matchup of the 2025-26 campaign, freshman guard Addie Deal made her highly anticipated debut off the bench, where she was greeted with a thunderous applause from the Hawkeyes‘ faithful.
The 6-foot native of Irvine, California, made her Carver-Hawkeye Arena and Hawkeyes debut with 6:51 left in the first quarter, which drew a loud ovation from the crowd before the five-star freshman inbounced the ball from underneath the Hawkeyes’ basket.
After hearing the crowd’s loud roar, Deal bellowed “Yes” as she understood the appreciation from the proud and loyal fans in attendance.

Although Deal would only score 7 points on 2-of-4 from the field, 1-of-1 from deep, and 2-of-2 from the line, to go along with her 5 assists and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes of action, she will undoubtedly get more looks on the court when the regular season begins on Nov. 3.
Iowa will open its 2025-26 regular season slate against Southern from Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 6:30 p.m. CT, with the game broadcast on Big Ten Plus (Subscription Required).
