Durden (17-8-1 MMA, 6-6-1 UFC) looks to get back on track in a rough stretch of his career. He’s 1-4 over his last five and comes into this matchup on a two-fight skid. His last outing was a second-round stoppage loss against Jose Ochoa in June. Durden’s last victory was a second-round submission over Matt Schnell last September.
Nascimento (21-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has experienced multiple bout cancellations in recent years, and weighed in heavy for his last bout, but he’ll make his second appearance of the year in this short-notice replacement catchweight. He comes in on a three-fight winning streak that includes wins over Jake Hadley, Carlos Hernandez, and most recently, Jafel Filho.

Opening up the main card is an impromptu catchweight fight at 130 pounds between Allan Nascimento and Cody Durden.
Nascimento was initially slated to face Rafael Estevam, who was forced to withdraw roughly two weeks out from fight night. Stepping in on short notice is Durden, an American Top Team product who is no stranger to playing the last-minute replacement.
Considering Durden’s traditional issues with stamina in some fights, I’d be much more sympathetic to the American’s chances as an underdog if he had a full camp. Durden is a solid wrestler who has made marked improvements to his boxing, but aggressive, submission-savvy fighters have posed problems for him in the smaller octagon of the Apex before.
Nascimento may not have much to write home about on the feet, but he is one of the bigger flyweights who bears a consistent, sticky grappling process that the current fighting terrain will quietly complement.
I see Durden having some success early, but if he can’t finish his Brazilian foe by the seven-minute mark then I suspect things go downhill for him fast.
