The 2025 Youth Para Pan American Games is underway in Chile this week, with 28 competitors from nine countries looking for titles in recurve and compound in individual and mixed team events, over two days of competition.
The multi-sport event has been held every four years since 2003, with all editions so far being held in South America. The archery competition is being held at the Chilean national training centre, and is an event for athletes age 12-22, with the youngest archer on the field being Venezuela’s Nelson Alejandro Rodriguez Figueroa, aged just 13.
There are two open classes in under-21 men’s and women’s for recurve and compound.
Archers from Colombia, Juan Felipe Gonzalez Osorio and Maira Alejandra Mosquera Rocha topped the men’s and women’s recurve lists, and another Colombian, the 19-year-old Ariana Correa, narrowly leading the women’s field. All three athletes medalled at the Morelia circuit stage earlier this year.
The USA’s Ephraim Tonn-Bourg leads the compound men’s field. Tonn-Bourg also shot his way to top ten finishes in both Morelia and Chicago this year.
All the top seeds made it through to the gold medal matches on Monday, where a short mixed team shoot-down and finals will be followed by individual finals outdoors.
Competition continues on Monday. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube and you can follow scores on the World Archery website as usual.
