Texas A&M is coming off its second bye week of the season, now set to take on No. 19 Missouri in Columbia, as the Aggies will likely need to finish 12-0 or 11-1 to make the SEC Championship game, but are already virtually locks, barring an epic collapse, to earn its first bid to the College Football Playoff. Aided by two of the best offenses and defenses in the country, Texas A&M is still considered the most balanced team outside of Ohio State and Indiana.
After the bye, the Aggies stayed at No. 3 in both the AP Top 25 and the US LBM Coaches Poll. While these rankings matter during the final week of the regular season, head coach Mike Elko and his talented roster are focused on the Tigers, followed by consecutive home matchups vs. South Carolina and Samford before ending the year vs. No. 13 Texas on the road.

In the SEC, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas all won this weekend, and will continue to battle for one of the two spots in the SEC Championship game, especially if Texas A&M finishes with an undefeated record. However, if the Aggies slip up, Ole Miss loses one more game, and the Longhorns surprisingly win out, chaos will ensue before Championship weekend.
This is all speculation, and for Texas A&M to outright earn both postseason spots, starting quarterback Marcel Reed will need to continue playing at a Heisman-level, especially in the passing game with transfer wide receivers Mario Craver and KC Concpecion leading the way. At the same time, the defense creates consistent pressure in the pocket, currently ranked second nationally in sacks (32).
After the bye, Texas A&M now has a 96.4% chance to make the College Football Playoff, which makes sense given its undefeated record and wins over two ranked teams on the road.
Looking at the rest of the season, how many of the six remaining matchups are the Aggies favored in? Here is what ESPN’s FPI predictor says heading into Week 11.

-
Nov. 8: Texas A&M (56%) at Missouri (44%)
 -
Nov. 15: Texas A&M (83.6%) vs. South Carolina (16.4%)
 -
Nov. 22: Texas A&M (99.0%) vs. Samford (1.0%)
 -
Nov. 28: Texas A&M (43.3%) vs. Texas (56.7%)

While the Missouri Tigers are more than good enough to pull off the upset, Texas A&M’s defense will face freshman quarterback Matt Zollers, giving the Aggies a significant advantage, on paper, at least. What hasn’t changed is the overall prediction that the Aggies will finish 11-1, losing to Texas to end the season. But even after defeating Vanderbilt 34-31, the Longhorns are hard to figure out.
