Florida football redshirt offensive lineman Fletcher Westphal is set to undergo hip surgery later this week, according to a report from Swamp247.

It marks the second operation of the season for the 6-foot-8-inch, 342-pound lineman, who also had a wrist procedure in late September. Westphal hasn’t seen the field in 2025.

The Leesburg, Virginia, native suffered a wrist fracture during fall camp, derailing what was expected to be his first full season in the rotation. Now, with the hip issue requiring surgery, his return this year is very unlikely.

As a former four-star recruit and true freshman in 2024, Westphal appeared in four games and earned solid Pro Football Focus grades across the board, including an 80.2 in pass blocking and 75.5 overall. His debut came against Miami before seeing time against Samford, Florida State and Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Florida has not announced a recovery timeline for Westphal, and the program has made him available on its weekly availability reports. His status will likely be re-evaluated following the procedure later this week.
