13-year-old Gonzalez Osorio wins Youth Para Pan title for Colombia

by

Thirteen-year-old Juan Felipe Gonzalez Osorio walked away with the recurve men’s open title at the Santiago 2025 Youth Para Pan American Games on Monday afternoon in Santiago de Chile.

He beat 18-year-old Filipe Eduardo Aguiar of Brazil in straight sets in the gold medal match.

It was the second major achievement this year for the Colombian, who also took gold at the Morelia 2025 Americas Para Archery Cup. There, he was unopposed in his under-21 category – and this time he claimed gold without dropping a single point in either the semifinal or the final.

Gonzalez Osorio’s title was the headline result for a Colombian team that finished firmly at the top of the medal table with six medals in total, including three golds.

There was an upset in the recurve women’s final, with Sarai Asanet Aparicio Salgado of Mexico defeating Maira Alejandra Mosquera Rocha of Colombia to take gold.

In the mixed team event, Colombia’s top-seeded pair of Gonzalez Osorio and Mosquera Rocha beat Brazil for the recurve title, while Mexico defeated hosts Chile for bronze.

The USA’s compound pairing of Ephraim Tonn-Bourg and Sophia Grayson claimed the compound mixed team title, winning 149-144 over Chile, with Colombia taking bronze against Mexico.
