Felix Auger-Aliassime has vaulted into eighth place in the ATP’s Race to Turin standings on the strength of his runner-up performance in Paris last week.
The 25-year-old Canadian has elected to let it ride.
He pulled out of this week’s Moselle Open in Metz, France, where he was the top seed, which means that Lorenzo Musetti can retake the eighth spot, and thus qualify for Turin, with a title in Athens.
Musetti is 180 points behind Auger-Aliassime, which means he’ll only pass the Canadian if he claims the 250 points for the title. A runner up performance would leave him 30 points shy.
Musetti, seeded second in Athens, has a first-round bye and will face either Botic Van de Zandschulp or Stan Wawrinka in the second round.
He’s slated to face fifth-seeded Alexandre Muller in the quarterfinals if the seeds hold.

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Alex de Minaur have already qualified for Turin, leaving only one main draw spot left to claim.
