The Callaway Supersoft is the best-selling golf ball on Amazon. It’s soft, affordable and one of the most recognizable names in golf. While its popularity speaks for itself, it’s not a perfect fit for every player.
Our 2025 Golf Ball Test showed that soft doesn’t always mean better. Golfers love the Supersoft’s feel and price point but that ultra-soft construction also made it one of the shortest golf balls off the tee, depending on swing speed. If you’re looking for alternatives that may give you a little performance boost or maintain the same feel, here are a few to try.
1. TaylorMade Speed Soft
The Speed Soft offers nearly identical feel and compression to the Supersoft but with a touch more speed and distance. In testing, it produced marginally higher ball speed off the driver without giving up the soft contact most Supersoft players prefer.
Why try it: Same soft feel and low price point with slightly better driver numbers.
Watch out for: Still an ionomer cover so don’t expect a big jump in greenside spin.
2. Kirkland Performance+ v3.5

Kirkland’s latest three-piece design continues to impress in MyGolfSpy testing. It delivers higher ball speeds than the Supersoft and significantly more short-game spin. The price is right.
Why try it: Tremendous value with real performance gains in speed and spin.
Watch out for: Slightly firmer feel; players who love “marshmallow soft” may find it clickier off the face.
3. Srixon Q-Star ULTISPEED

This ball costs about $5 more per dozen than the Supersoft but the jump in performance is noticeable. The ULTISPEED isn’t soft at all. It’s built for consistency, straighter flight and better spin control. For golfers who like the Supersoft’s forgiveness but want a livelier, more balanced flight, it’s a solid upgrade.
Why try it: Strong all-around performance one of the best value golf balls of 2025.
Watch out for: Firmer feel especially noticeable when putting/chipping.
Bonus: Amazon’s Core Soft Ball

While it wasn’t part of the official 2025 MyGolfSpy test, we ran a quick comparison on Amazon’s top-ranked house-brand golf ball. As expected, it’s very soft. It produced low spin and below-average speed in our spot check. The feel is nice, and the price is unbeatable but, performance-wise, it sits firmly in the “recreational only” category.
Final thoughts
The Callaway Supersoft dominates sales because it’s easy to love. It has soft feel, straight flight and an approachable price. But if you’re after more, it’s worth exploring other options that better balance speed, spin and feel.
