Lorenzo Musetti is expanding his team.

World No. 9 Musetti is adding a highly experience new coach to join his lifelong coach Simone Tartarini.

Musetti is partnering with Jose Perlas as coach, Italian news agency La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports. Perlas, who coached Carlos Moya to world No. 1 and also worked with Guillermo Coria, Nicolas Almagro and Fabio Fognini, is set to join the team in December, Italian media reports, after the upcoming ATP Finals in Turin. Perlas also coached the Spanish Davis Cup team to two championships.

Former junior world No. 1 Musetti trails Felix Auger-Aliassime by 180 points for the eighth and final spot in the Race for Turin. Musetti is seeded second in Athens this week and must capture the Athens championship to secure his spot in Turin.

Musetti is scheduled to face Swiss wild card Stan Wawrinka in a battle of wondrous one-handed backhands in his Athens opener.
