Kevin Durant Predicts Cooper Flagg Will Become ‘One of the Best All-Time’

by

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has seen enough of rookie sensation Cooper Flagg to make a bold prediction — the Mavericks teenager is destined for greatness.

Dallas aren’t having the best start to the season, after falling to 2-5 when the Rockets defeated them 110-102 on Monday night. The team is injury plagued, but KD is high on Flagg.

“I think that he’s going to be a hell of a player,” Durant told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “I think that he’s going to be such a nightmare… that… he’ll be considered one of the best of all time.”

At just 18 years old, Flagg has already shown flashes of elite two-way potential.

The 6’9” forward, who has been thrown into the point guard role under Jason Kidd, is averaging 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and three assists per game.

It’s a modest start statistically, but Durant believes the numbers don’t tell the full story.

“I think that you’re going from in college playing four and five to playing point guard, two guard,” Durant explained. “That’s going to be an adjustment period for everybody.

“I hate to inject myself into his [situation], but I came in college playing four, five. I came to the league playing a two. So it’s like position changes like that can really throw you off early on in your career, but I think he’s still working through it and having some good games, you know?”

Despite Flagg’s growing pains, Durant insists patience will pay off.

“It’s only a matter of time before he gets it and clicks for him,” he said. “He understands truly what his role is, I think the sky’s the limit for him.”

If Flagg can find his rhythm, the rest of the league may soon be dealing with exactly what Durant warned, a nightmare in the making.
