Shivam Dube launched a monstrous six that disappeared out of the ground during the fourth T20I between India and Australia at Carrara Oval in Queensland on Thursday (November 6).

The moment came right after Rinku Singh passed on a message from Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, and Shivam Dube responded in the most explosive way possible.

The hit was so huge that the ball went out of the ground, forcing the umpires to bring in a new one. The shot perfectly summed up Dube’s fearless approach and his reputation as one of India’s cleanest hitters against spin.

Earlier, Shivam Dube got a surprise promotion in the batting order during the fourth T20I between India and Australia on Thursday. After batting at No. 8 in the last two matches, the left-hander was sent in at No. 3 this time to give him more time in the middle.

However, the move didn’t work as planned. Dube started cautiously, taking time to find his rhythm. Apart from a massive six off Adam Zampa, he struggled to time the ball cleanly. His innings ended for 22 runs off 18 balls at a strike rate of 122 when Nathan Ellis bowled him with a clever delivery.

Ellis targeted the leg-stump line, and Dube missed while trying to play across, resulting in the ball crashing into the stumps. It was a disappointing outing for Dube, who couldn’t make the most of the promotion despite the team’s hopes for a quick and powerful start against Australia.

Meanwhile, India posted a total of 167 for 8 in their 20 overs. Vice-captain Shubman Gill was the top scorer with a steady 46, showing glimpses of his old touch before falling to a clever slower ball from Nathan Ellis. Young opener Abhishek Sharma contributed 28 runs, while Shivam Dube added 22.

Axar Patel’s quick 21 and captain Suryakumar Yadav’s 20 helped India push past the 160 mark, but the team couldn’t finish strongly. Australia’s bowling attack was led by Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa, who picked up three wickets each and broke India’s momentum in the final overs.

Australia began their chase in style in the fourth T20I against India in Queensland. Chasing 168, the hosts raced to 35 without loss in just four overs, thanks to a fiery start from captain Mitchell Marsh and Matt Short. The Australian openers are attacking the Indian bowlers from the very first over to keep the asking rate in check. Currently, the five-match T20I series is tied at 1-1.
