Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes 93 off 67 in Ranji Trophy

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi fell just seven runs short of his maiden first-class century on day four of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 clash in Patna.

After rain washed out the first two days, Meghalaya declared at 408 for 7, thanks to Ajay Duhan’s stunning 129 and Swastic Chettri’s brilliant knock of 94 runs.

Akash Chowdhary also played an excellent knock of 60 runs against Bihar. Bihar got only a short time to bat on the final day, but Suryavanshi made it count. The young southpaw raced to a fifty off just 33 balls with his free-flowing style.

He kept the momentum going, looking set for a century before being dismissed for 93 off 67 balls, featuring nine fours and four sixes. Bihar finished at 156 for 4, as the Ranji Trophy match between Bihar and Meghalaya ended in a draw in Patna.

The meteoric rise of Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Suryavanshi’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary. The India Under-19 batting sensation first grabbed attention last year with a blazing 62-ball 104 on his Youth Test debut against Australia. But it was the IPL 2025 that truly made him a star.

At just 14, Suryavanshi became the youngest ever to play in the IPL and made an unforgettable start by hitting a six off his very first ball for Rajasthan Royals.

A few matches later, the Bihar batter smashed a 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans, one of the fastest in IPL history. He carried that form into Youth ODIs, where he went on to break the record for the fastest hundred.
