Virginia Tech basketball vs. Providence: How to watch, preview

by

The Virginia Tech Hokies opened the 2025-26 college basketball season on Monday with a 98-67 win over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers at Cassell Coliseum. Forwards Tobi Lawal (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Amani Hansberry (19 points, 13 rebounds) each had double-doubles to lead the Hokies.

Freshman sensation Neoklis Avdalas scored eight points and dished out nine assists in his college debut. The 6-foot-9 guard struggled from the field (3 of 13), but he did an excellent job of leading Virginia Tech’s offense, turning the ball over only once, and playing terrific defense.
