Ismael Bonfim vs. Chris Padilla UFC Vegas 111 preview

Bonfim (20-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) will look to get back into the win column after a doctor stoppage loss to Nazim Sadykhov in February. The older, yet smaller Bonfim brother has traded wins and losses since 2023, and has not lost back-to-back fights since his second and third professional bouts.

Padilla (16-6 MMA, 3-0 UFC) enters this matchup on a six-fight winning streak, which includes his first three bouts under the UFC banner. After stopping James Llontop and Rong Zhu last year, Padilla won a split decision over Jai Herbert in March.

Ismael Bonfim vs. Chris Padilla UFC Vegas 111 expert pick, prediction

Filling out the main card is a lightweight matchup between Ismail Bonfim and Chris Padilla.

Bonfim, who missed the lightweight limit by nearly five pounds, has agreed to continue with this bout at the expense of 25 percent of his fight purse.

Although it was an admittedly reluctant pick, I was initially leaning toward Bonfim to win here. However, after seeing how rough the Brazilian looked on the scales, I felt compelled to switch my pick to Padilla.

Aside from Padilla having some deceptive striking skills, the American is a classic overachiever, while Bonfim has arguably been an underachiever.

The official prediction is for Padilla to force a stoppage by the end of Round 2.
