Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize weren’t about to take another L—and they sure didn’t stick around to pretend otherwise.
Just an hour before AEW Collision went live, the duo walked out of the building after refusing to lose a second straight match, this time to Tay Melo and Anna Jay. Instead of going quiet, they hit a restaurant, pounded drinks, and let everyone know exactly how they felt—with a smile and a cocktail.
Originally set to put over Melo and Jay, both women shut it down backstage. They had already lost their AEW debut the week before and weren’t interested in being booked to lose again without any momentum behind them. With the match scrapped last-minute, AEW tapped Hyan and Maya World to take their place.
Shortly after the walk out incident, Alize posted an Instagram Story showing her and Newell drinking at a restaurant. Newell was seen mid-sip, with the caption, “No BETTER way to spend a Saturday 🥰🥰.”
Alize didn’t stop there. She jumped on Twitter and posted, “Have SOOOO much to say,” before retweeting fan posts demanding real wins and respect for the team. Newell didn’t add her own words but backed the same tweets by reposting them.
Neither woman is signed to an AEW contract. Newell was released from WWE on November 1, 2024, and has previously called her post-release run “a nightmare” due to lack of bookings. Alize, who had a steady role in Ring of Honor during the Sinclair era, is also looking to lock in a major promotion.
Whether this night out was a message or just a mood, they didn’t hide from the heat—they ordered another round.
Was walking out before showtime and posting drinks after the right move—or did they just kill their shot at locking down AEW deals? Sound off in the comments.
