The 23rd-ranked Iowa women’s basketball squad returns to the floor on Sunday by welcoming in Evansville (0-1, 0-0 Missouri Valley Conference).
The Hawkeyes (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) opened with an 86-51 win over Southern, where sophomore center Ava Heiden led the way with her first career double-double. Heiden posted 21 points, 14 rebounds, one steal, and one block on an 8-of-13 shooting day.

Senior forward Hannah Stuelke added 20 points and nine boards on 8-of-11 shooting. As a team, Iowa shot 51.7% but just 22.2% from behind the arc. Improved 3-point shooting will certainly be an area of emphasis for Iowa as it welcomes in the Purple Aces.
Evansville opened with a 71-66 loss at Southeast Missouri State. Sophomore guard Camryn Runner led the way for Evansville with 26 points.
Iowa owns the all-time series lead over Evansville, 3-0. The Hawkeyes won the last meeting on Nov. 10, 2022, by a final score of 115-62.
