We’re excited to announce 3 0 Thursday (three-oh-Thursday), our new weekly prize event for titled players! The event will feature a 3+0 time control, the most popular among titled players on our website. Every Thursday, titled players can now play in three events starting at different times with a $1,000 prize fund each, making this our most globally accessible event for titled players yet!
To celebrate the launch of this new event, we’re hosting a special first edition of 3 0 Thursday tournaments on November 13. Players joining will vie for a share of the three times larger prize fund of $3,000 per event.
3 0 Thursday also features a format that titled players know and love: an 11-round Swiss, just like Titled Tuesday. With the faster time control, tournaments are expected to run for approximately 90 minutes, making it easier for players to fit them into their busy schedules.
As with all our weekly events, streaming is encouraged. 3 0 Thursday should provide creators with another great opportunity to produce content regularly in a fun, competitive environment, helping keep their audiences engaged.
Non-titled players can also get a taste of all the 3 0 Thursday excitement. Every week, we’ll be running three Untitled 3 0 Thursday events alongside the official event for titled players. We invite all members of the community to join our official Community Club to participate in the events!
“I’m thrilled that we are now offering a weekly event that’s open to everyone,” said Michael Brancato, Chess.com’s Events Commissioner. “With three start times and sections for both titled and non-titled players, there’s a place for all players to enjoy fun and exciting competition every week, regardless of their experience level or where they live.”
With 3 0 Thursday, we now offer one prize event for titled players every other day of the week. Players and fans can enjoy Titled Tuesday on Tuesdays, 3 0 Thursday on Thursdays, and Bullet Brawl every Saturday. Players who like Chess960 can also play in Freestyle Fridays on Fridays.
As the week progresses, time controls get faster and adrenaline builds up, starting with 5+0 in Titled Tuesday, to 3+0 on Thursday, and finally Bullet Brawl’s lightning-fast 1+0. With 3 0 Thursday’s no-increment time control, players can get pumped and ready for all the bullet action over the weekend!
With the launch of 3 0 Thursday, we’re discontinuing the weekly After Party events. However, non-titled players can rejoice with the re-launch of Untitled Tuesday! Every Tuesday, any non-titled player of the community can join the event to have fun with other fellow chess players, while non-titled creators can also join to compete for cash prizes. Join our Community Discord for more information about Untitled Tuesday and other community events.
